Eyelid Surgery

Your eyes reveal a wealth of information about how you feel physically and emotionally. Unfortunately, hereditary factors and the signs of aging can change the appearance of your eyes. If your upper eyelids have drooping skin that makes you look sad or angry, or you look exhausted by puffiness or bags, eyelid surgery may be right for you.
Eyelid surgery, or blepharoplasty, is a surgical procedure that can improve the appearance of your upper eyelids, lower eyelids, or both. A facelift is sometimes performed in conjunction with eyelid surgery.

Eyelid surgery treats the following:
- Loose or sagging skin that creates folds or hides the natural contour of the upper eyelid
- Excess skin that hangs down from the upper eyelid, sometimes impairing vision
- Excess fatty deposits that appear as puffiness in the upper eyelids
- Bags under the eyes
- Droopiness of the lower eyelids, showing white below the iris (colored part of the eye)
- Excess skin and fine wrinkles of the lower eyelid

You may resume work (and wearing contact lenses) after this time. Makeup can camouflage any bruising or redness that remains. Healing will continue for several more weeks

After Eyelid SurgeryYou can expect to see your final results appear over time, generally within a few weeks. It may take up to a year for your incision lines to fully fade. Your eyelid surgery can correct certain conditions permanently, but you will continue to age naturally. You should always use sun protection and wear darkly tinted sunglasses to help maintain your results. Your surgery should reveal a smooth, firm contour of your upper and/or lower eyelids while giving you a more youthful and alert appearance.
